One tax that every person has to pay is the tax for protection. It might not seem fair, especially when you initially give the money to avoid being hit, rather than being protected, but violence is a business, and so long as you are not a military officer, you have to be its customer. I can’t help but feel that a blind faith in Latin and Greek for all new English words simply destroys the ability of the language to serve it’s country, and is one of the reasons why America, which is basically just a modern Roman republic, is doing so well, because Latin is gradually supplanting English as a language through centuries and centuries of encroachment on its vocabulary. Indeed, one can’t help but feel that America came into existence the day the Latin derived words exceeded in number the old English ones. Even if we assume that this isn’t harmful, which it is, eventually we are going to have to look back to old English to recreate new words, given that Latin, when unnecessary, only weakens the English nation, and that the stock of local unused words are a cornucopia of execution in a world where derived vocabularies are limited.
